I THINK I HAVE A PROBLEM

A few of the reasons I decided to start a quilt blog:
  1. To start documenting my projects
  2. To keep track of them all in one place
  3. To help keep me motivated to do more
  4. To try to tame the ADD I have with too many projects
  5. To be accountable so that I get projects finished
With that being said I re-arranged my sewing room today with the help of my hubby. I am now able to access my sewing machine I have on a quilt frame in a much easier manner. Now I don't have to lose a gazillion pounds and look like Olive Oil in order to get behind my machine.

In the process of re-organizing I decided to take photo's of all the many uncompleted projects I have hanging out. Many of them just need quilted and I am going to make a pledge to work on these this year without starting too many new projects. Admitting the problem is a start, right? So here goes. Fair warning this is a photo heavy post.

Celtic Solstice

First up is the Bonnie Hunter mystery quilt that my first blog post was about. The top is completed and now I need to quilt and bind it. This is first on my list, will be working on this directly.
The rest of the photo's are in no particular order. Some of these quilts have been hanging around for 10 years. I should be ashamed!
Americana - ready to be quilted

Jelly Roll Race - needs quilted (haven't decided if I like it or not)

My Very First Quilt - All this needs is trimmed and binding. What am I waiting for?

Converging Cows - needs binding (What was I thinking)

Pumpkin Go Round Table Topper - needs lots of applique

Small Wall Hanging - needs quilted (might be a good practice piece)

Pumpkin wall hanging - needs quilted

Mountain Majesties Learning to quilt class- halfway quilted
Flag Twister - needs another border and quilted
Montana Log Cabin - needs quilted
Batik Mystery Quilt from Quilt Guild - needs last border and quilted

Star Blocks started for a king size bed quilt

Leah Day Free Motion Quilting whole-cloth lesson
Tree Table runner - needs binding. This is #2 I finished the first one.
Christmas Tree wall hanging - started cutting
Baby Girl quilt - had good intentions years ago
Crossroads Log Cabin - love the colors, many small pieces
Flying Geese King Size - Just needs binding
Tote Bag - need to finish putting it together
Kaleidoscope Quilt blocks. Making a king size, love this fabric!
Large tote bag quilted panel
Christmas Star table topper - needs quilted.
That is a total of 23 unfinished projects, holy schmokes! I will check back on myself next January to see how many I have finished and how many I am just giving up on. I do have many quilts I have actually finished. I will post some of them another day. You would think that I wouldn't consider starting something else new until I complete some of these, ha ha. I am starting a new quilt but it is only one block per month, surely I can keep up with that. I will fill you in on it next time.
Thanks for reading!
Chris

  1. Congratulations :) super job. I also want to do a blog but haven't gotten my butt in gear to do it yet. I would love to document projects that I have done with my grand daughter and also many that I have done and LMBO many I have started but not finished yet. I will be checking in from time to time to be inspired.

    1. You should definitely start blogging. I would love to see the projects you are doing with your granddaughter. Be sure to let me know when you start it.

  2. I have twice that many projects and hope to finish lots this year too. Working on the mystery quilt now. Enjoyed seeing your quilts. Love the kaleidoscope one. I thought I should finish the closest to being done first and see some progress that way. Kathy from Frostproof Florida kwqilter@aol.com

    1. We just need to work a little at a time. I get overwhelmed thinking of all of them so I am going to pick one and work on it until its completed and go from there. Good luck with yours as well.

  4. Loved your before and after organizing pix! Your projects are lovely. Bet you are surprised how they looked when you grouped all the pix. Is the kaleidoscope a whack n stack? Never done one, but your blocks just made me think if the description. Love the flag twist. I started to organize my space, and got part way then (typically of me) turned my focus on something else that had to be done, and never got back, and it functions even more poorly in its partial state then ever! Thanks for the inspiration!

    1. Yes it is a stack and whack, first time doing one. Each block is amazing in how different they look!

  6. Hooray for you for taking photos and organizing them all. I started a blog to document my quilting and I am ashamed to say that I don't post as often as I would like due to not having taken the photos. A blog is a great way to look back and see how much progress you have made over the year.

    1. And there is another good reason for me to keep up with this, sure am going to try. I always feel like I don't get enough done.

  7. Great idea! Wondering if you quilt those king sized quilts (it seems you do a lot of king sized quilts) on your quilt frame or some other way. I have a B-Line frame with my Janome 6500 on it but I can't do really big quilts on it without problems of throat space when I get near the end. (ie the roll gets bigger and the quilting space gets smaller).

    1. Actually I have only done small lap and baby quilts on it. I am told you could do a king but I fear that would frustrate the heck out of me. I have someone with a true long arm do quilts that big. I am going to quilt Celtic Solstice myself using a panto pattern that is about 5" tall. I hope it works out, time will tell.

  8. You mention "many small pieces" on one, but if you've done Celtic Solstice, you can do anything, right? I bet it won't seem as bad now. Also, I made that tote and I use it all the time. You're not to far from finishing it -- get it done and you'll have so much fun using it, it'll keep you going on other projects!

  9. Wow, I see a pattern here (pun intended)!! I'm so proud of your beautiful work! And the room looks great. Need to come down and have some wine again. :-)

    1. I will gladly put it at the top if you show me how. They are sorting by most recent updates. You might just have to blog more often 😊
